The 73^rd Colorado General Assembly begins January 9. Recycle Colorado’s Policy Committee is excited to announce that we will be returning to an in-person Lobby Day on February 7. 

This is a great time to meet legislators and make sure our voice is heard at the capitol when it comes to recycling, composting and Zero Waste. About a third of the legislators are new this year, so we want to reach out to them and educate them on our industry. If you haven’t been to a lobby day before, it is fun! We provide you with all the information and training you need to meet with legislators that day. You won’t be alone! We will put you in small groups and each group will have an experienced leader.

What will we be lobbying on? Since many legislators are new, we will start with the basics on how the recycling and composting sector works in Colorado, what are the key challenges we face, and the solutions we are implementing and proposing. We will be discussing specifically the implementation of the Producer Responsibility Act and the Circular Economy Center passed last year. We will also be talking about composting and a bill we are working on to help improve organics diversion in the state. We will give you materials ahead of time and cover the basics of these topics during our training.

What will the day look like? 

7:30 AM – Breakfast and Training for all day & morning session attendees at the Olin Hotel, 1420 Logan Street, Denver

9:00 AM – Morning and all day attendees will attend Senate and House Chambers, meet with legislators in the lobby; attended office meetings

12:00 PM – Lunch for all day attendees and training & lunch for afternoon attendees at Olin Hotel

1:00 PM – Afternoon and all day attendees will return to capital for meetings and committee hearings

4:00 – 6:00 PM – Legislative Reception at Lincoln Center Building Lobby, 1660 Lincoln Street, Denver

You may attend the whole day, the morning (7:30 – 12PM), the afternoon (12-4PM), and/or the reception (4-6PM).
