Colorado communities are beginning to tackle the challenge of C&D waste with different approaches. Join us to learn how three programs from across the state seek to improve C&D diversion in their regions.

Meet the presenters:

  • Linda Hardin Sr. Specialist, Environmental Compliance, City of Fort Collins
Fort Collins has passed legislation to achieve the goal of zero waste by 2050. Construction and demolition recycling plays a big part in the fast-growing community with over 100,000 tons of C & D waste generated in 2020.
  • Jesse Masten, Eagle County Solid Waste and Recycling Department
Eagle County’s programs lead the way in material management with a Household Hazardous Waste Facility, six recycling drop-off centers, a state-of-the art dual-stream MRF, Construction and Demolition Diversion Site, and a landfill.
  • Michael Port, Pitkin County Solid Waste
A C&D ordinance in 2020 established a deposit-refund system for construction and demolition projects in the county. A refundable deposit is collected when permits are issued and returned based on waste diversion performance at the job site.
