These meetings are a crucial part of updating Colorado’s Integrated Solid Waste Management Plan (ISWMP), and your involvement is vital to our success. These meetings will be facilitated by Resource Recycling Systems (RRS) in collaboration with the Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment, supported by an Environmental Protection Agency Solid Waste for Infrastructure Recycling (SWIFR) grant.

The updated ISWMP aims to support Colorado’s solid waste stakeholders by addressing several key areas:

• Estimating Future Waste Generation: Forecasting the future generation of waste from the renewable energy sector to better prepare for sustainable waste management.
• Disaster Debris Management: Developing a comprehensive disaster debris management template for local governments to enhance response and recovery efforts.
• Waste Diversion Assessment: Evaluating current waste diversion efforts and providing recommendations to improve waste diversion and tracking in Colorado.

Improving Waste Diversion:
The waste diversion stakeholder meetings will focus on evaluating current waste diversion policies in Colorado and providing recommendations for improvement. These meetings will gather insights from stakeholders to identify needs, gaps, and strategies for enhancing waste diversion and tracking, while also emphasizing equitable access to services across the state.

Meeting Details:
There will be four opportunities to hear the findings to date and offer recommendations for improving waste diversion and tracking in Colorado. By participating in these meetings, you will help shape effective policies and strategies that benefit Colorado’s communities and environment.
