Moe is new Executive Director of Recycle Colorado

Longmont, CO – Last month, Recycle Colorado announced the departure of its treasured Executive Director, Dr. Elizabeth (Liz) Chapman, slated to leave her post in early June. Since that announcement, Recycle Colorado has been in search of its new leader. We are thrilled to announce that Brandy Moe has accepted the position of Executive Director of Recycle Colorado effective June 9, 2025.

“I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to take on this role. It feels like both a continuation of a journey I care deeply about and a meaningful new chapter,” said Moe about her new position. “Recycle Colorado has been a place where I’ve found deep purpose, lasting connections, and a shared passion for making a difference. I have so much respect and admiration for Liz Chapman and the thoughtful, impactful leadership she’s brought to this organization. It’s an honor to follow in her footsteps, and I’m excited to help carry our mission forward into the future.”

“I am excited that Brandy will be moving from being one of our most active members to serving as the leader of this wonderful organization. Her knowledge, skills and passion for our mission are a combination that will benefit all members and the state of Colorado,” said outgoing Executive Director Liz Chapman. “Brandy brings a diverse
background with experience in all parts of the state to ensure Recycle Colorado continues to have a positive impact on the circularity of materials.”

Moe brings a wealth of experience from both the nonprofit and private sectors, including her most recent role as Municipal Administrator of Government Affairs and Community Relations for Republic Services in Colorado. Her background also includes leading statewide paint stewardship efforts with PaintCare and strengthening glass recycling infrastructure through her work with Momentum Recycling (now Glass to Glass). Since 2018, Moe has served on the Board of Directors of Recycle Colorado as the Vice President of the Board and Vice Chair of the Policy Committee. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Social Work from the University of North Dakota and a Masters of Applied Science in Environmental Policy from the University of Denver.

Chapman has served as Recycle Colorado’s Executive Director since June of 2022. During her tenure, Chapman has served as the Chair of the Colorado Producer Responsibility Advisory Board and overseen the passage of legislation to improve composting, increase battery recycling, and streamline funding programs to invest in recycling programs and end market development.

Recycle Colorado Board President Melissa Kirr stated on behalf of the Board of Directors, “Liz has been an incredible asset to our organization, and we thank her for three years of incredible work for the organization!” She continued, “We certainly wish Liz the best and are glad that she will remain active in our organization and its mission.” Kirr added, “We’re also thrilled to welcome Brandy Moe as our next Executive Director. The Board is confident in her leadership and excited for what lies ahead.”
